[EOYT] England vs New Zealand 16/11/13

We will probably have both, you are right.
But that doesn't change the fact that Corbs knee issue is not going away.
He has still had to go to see a specialist.

England have absolutely no chance. The ABs have been stewing on this 12 months and Saturday is a day for redemption. Plus DCs 100th and a perfect year on the cards. Its all shaping up nicely and I'm predicting an absolute massacre by at least 25+.

Also the England coach hinting at winning by 4 try's to move into 2nd in the rankings.. please.. put the pipe down old chap. In the next 12 months we play the English 5 times, I'm predicting 5-0 to the ABs. The poms had their once in a decade win last year and hope they enjoyed it because normal service resumes on Saturday.

I'm guessing NZ will win this by 10-15pts personally. England are a tough foe at home, but they haven't been formidable either despite like 10 wins at home in a row. As something only semi-relevant, their recent wins at home against France, Italy and Australia this year in 2013 have been extremely narrow, in fact much more narrow than the scores look, and neither of these sides is exactly having a historical year.

Unless England play out of their minds, and NZ have difficulty coping with the psychological intensity in the atmosphere, this should be a 10-15point win for the dudes in black.
In fact, looking at both teams in their standard 2013 form, I'd imagine the All-Blacks would thrash England, even in Twickenham. But because it's such a special match-up, and is anything but "standard", I can see England explode for an ultra-solid performance.
But again, the fact alone that Tuilagi will be missing (he will be, right ?) is a huge disadvantage to the English.

And they call the English arrogant when it comes to sport...

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I'm really worried about him physically and what this could mean for him/his career - it's just that the article was a bit vague - it sounds possible that will be/have been a big day for Corbs and he will learn whether or whether not his rehab has been successful or whether there are lingering issues.

As regards our hierarchy of loose-head props I'm getting abit confused. Firstly, I'd thought Mullan was still in the saxons but apparently not; looking at the saxons squad composition it seems as if Nick Wood is the only loosehead there - is that normal to only have 1?

Alex Corbisiero
Mako Vunipola
Joe Marler
Nick Wood
Matt Mullan

So we're onto our fifth choice - great!

Who comes next?

Dan Cole played loose-head alongside Adam Jones on the lions tour...just putting it out there...I'm sure we'd be made to regret doing that against New Zealand, though.

And as regards the game again: Last year we played an almost perfect first 40 minutes, given the opposition. It took just a couple of minutes for New Zealand to erase the deficit in the second half. The thing that got us out of trouble was Tuilagi battering people's faces and Conrad Smith assuming that Brad Barritt couldn't run a good line to save his life (fair enough assumption to make if you haven't seen it happen before!)

Where's that going to come from this year I ask?

Haha. I've had to put up with a lot of **** from my pommy mates in the last 12 months so to say I was looking forward to this game would be an understatement.

I think I will just about have a nervous breakdown if we lose.

Also confidence/arrogance is breed into us at a young age re the All Blacks. That why we've been good for so long.

Nick Wood is still banned from that stamp right?

The composition of the Saxons is a bit odd at the moment, I guess as they don't have any games until the Six Nations window the squad was put together as a group of players Lancaster wanted as a pool of reserves rather than a real squad of its own. Otherwise I'm guessing Wood and Mullan would have been in it.

Does anyone know exactly what is wrong with Corbs' knee or is it a bit of a secret?

Hence why when you do get beat it's such a big fall from the pedestal.

Of course it's a big fall because its very rare that we actually lose.

He looked strong in the LV game against Ospreys for sure.

Is it bad that party of me imagines Cockerill has done something to slow Tuilagi's recovery just to spite England? I mean I'm not saying he has, but thats a very sudden increase in the time Manu will be out for.

We'll have to hope JJ's form improves or Trinder starts getting picked.

So that's our most important forward possibly very seriously crocked, and our most important back possibly out until the summer.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!

They should just wrap Corbs in cotton wool until 2015. The only real time off from rugby he's had the past few years has been through injury - and then when he comes back he's right into test rugby. Needs time to really get right again.

I don't like the sound of Marler starting and Mullan on the bench. Too late to call up Ross Harrison? :p

Edit: Just read the rest of the article and seen that Marler is potentially broke too. If he's out, then who else have we got?
PDJ? No thanks!
Waller?

I like not this news, bring me some other news!

Lord Wessex is not dead.

And I don't mean to "twist the knife in the wound" as we say, but this will highlight the English inability to score tries and put them face to face with the issue, and hopefully will realize they need to work on their attack. Lancaster (whom I'm a fan of on FB, mind you ) talked about that before, and surely with guys like Wade and Yarde a bit of a new culture can be added to an already established style ?

According to that he is wrapped up in cotton wool.
Although he was completely wrong to say so publically, Brian Smith's comments about a "degenerative knee condition" do seem to be correct.
It's not quite as minor an issue as we have been told.
