[June Tests 2018: 3rd Test] South Africa vs. England (23/06/2018)

Because Cape Town is an important city, support base wise, no?

The support bases of all the stadiums are basically the same. Loftus and Ellis Park and Soccer City are all about 50km's away from each other so it wouldn't be wise to host all 3 incoming tests at those 3 venues. But when SARU take their calendar and mark the tests for the year and the venues to be used, they should take Loftus, Ellis Park, Bloemfontein, Mbombela, Durban and Port Elizabeth as their options for the June Series. And then just add the Cape Town venue(s) for the Rugby Championship and other tests not being played in the Winter.

TBH I'm still not sure why the idea of playing rugby in the rain is such a big no-no; it's an outdoor sport after all

To be fair the TRF_heineken, his original point was about home teams selecting a venue that gives them the best chance of winning, not about the evils of mud per se. It just so happens that for a South Africa vs England match, this means avoiding a muddy pitch.
